Beautiful hotel, great value, but not great location

The hotel Davis is stunning. The rooms (we had a free upgrade on arrival without asking) have great touches to Thai detail, teak wood, beautiful Thai art, gorgeous materials and really large, comfortable and clean. The staff on the front desk are extremely polite, but have a poor knowledge of the surrounding area and foun it difficult to answer some quite basic questions. The hotel is slightly outside of the main attractions. This wouldn't have been a problem in the past, but traffic has seriously increased since our last visit and tuktuks and taxis are out unless you want to sit in a traffic jam. All that said the hote, provide a tuk tuk to the train station and the trains are good (or its a half hour walk) and the hotel is great value for money. The rooms are fabulous and the breakfast(approx £4) really excellent. The pools are beautiful and gym really good.
