a rather run-down hotel badly in need of a face-lift

The hotel really needs a re-vamp as it is sorely needed to have some TLC (tender loving care). The staff were friendly & attentive. The breakfast could have been improved by presentation & we were lucky in that the staff provided some boiling water, & even a teapot for our last breakfast which meant we could have some hot tea! Did not enjoy the music which went on till midnight/1 a.m. as we were trying to get to sleep though the group & the lady singer in particular, were quite good. Fitness room needs to be sorted. Enjoyed BBC World News & the fact that we could get on wi-fi (though did not like the idea that was limited to 5 hours within 3 days).
