Great place - we hope to return!!!

My wife and I stayed at the Kai Bae Garden Resort for 4 nights and we loved it. The garden setting is wonderful - quiet and exotic. The pool was much better than I expected and even had a nice waterfall. Our room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and we slept very well, the bathroom was large with a good shower. Reading a book on the front porch of our room was a favourite past-time for my wife. The location is very good - central on the west coast (no beaches on the east coast) and the shops and restaurants / cafes are better than most other areas we visited. It is a short walk to the beach. The beaches and everything else on Koh Chang is really nice for a romantic get-away or families - if you want big crowds and wild parties then go to Phuket or Koh Samui. However, there are plenty of bars nearby so if you want a drink then there is no problem. The owner of Kai Bae Garden Resort (his name is 'Mouse', yes, really) is very helpful and friendly - he happily makes guests feel welcome and has some entertaining stories if you feel like getting into a discussion :-) I spent a lot of time choosing Kai Bae Garden Resort, reading many reviews on this and other sites. All places will have some negative comments but all I can say is as far as I am concerned you can disregard any critical reviews for KB Garden Resort. If you want a 5 star luxury accommodation then you will have to pay far more. KB Garden Resort is priced fair and is good value. By the way, the breakfast is quite good and better than we expected. Lastly, my wife and I discussed whether or not we would have liked a bungalow on the beach and decided that a quiet garden setting was preferable, being more private and of course well within our budget.
