A Touch of Luxury

As a local expat the price looked high for Koh Samet but it was a special occassion. On arrival the resort lived up to expectations and certainly gave you all of the extras you might expect in the tarif band. We had booked into a garden cottage with pool and found the facility to be great. The cottage was spacious and well thoughtout with tastefull decor and had an outside living area to match. An advantage of the garden cottage was that, being set back from the beach and surrounded by vegitation, we had a greater degree of privacy in the outdoor area than was available on the beach front units but still had a (limitted) beach view. All common facilities met the same high standard set by the accommodation and the staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive but not intrusive. Down side? well nothing can be that perfect - the coffee maker in the room steadfastly refused to operate and I have had better food elsewhere in Thailand. Would I go back and/or recommend it to others - certainly but probably for no longer than a long weekend as, unless your the type who can happily spends days by the pool/on the beach, there is not a lot happening. In summation, a perfect bolthole for a romantic weekend away from it all in a little corner of paradise.
