Cold Stay at Phu Pha Nam Resort

Unfortunately we experienced an unusual cold period when we stayed at the Phu Pha Nam Resort for which the hotel was ill prepared. They should at least have provided electric heaters in the bedroom and dining room to make it a bit more comfortable for their guests. We ate and slept with our jackets on. The food was okay but not of a high standard and the only bottle of red wine they could offer us was from the Loei area (they had only 1 bottle). The so-called American breakfast was mediocre and only white bread was served. It seems the hotel owner and staff don't really care whether their guests like it or not because there is very little competition in this beautiful Northern Province. It's a real pity, because with a little bit more effort, creativity and willingness to provide a reasonably good standard of service this hotel could be wonderful! Too expensive for what was offered.
