Good time in Phuket

We traveled as a family in February to Kata Beach. We liked the Hotel and can recommend it. However there are two thinks that were disappointing: the distance to the beach is not that close - and to walk there nether - the big street is dangerous to walk with a 5 year old kid. Also the Hotel (and the whole neighborhood) has a problem with the waste water - there is a constant bad smell in the air. Especially if you want to sit in the Restaurant next to the sewer system. We could see -it is not a problem from the Hotel but from the sewer system in Kata Beach and the bad smell is everywhere - but it should be solved (Municipality Kata Beach).
