Don't stay at Al's Hut

This is a horrible place. It is probably the noisiest place you could possibly stay. Two nights a week there is a huge beach party complete with loud annoying electronic music and fireworks in your backyard. If you have to get up early the next morning like I did you will be cursing the place. The other nights the music and fireworks are loud, but not as bad. There are only several sunbeds for the entire place and they are almost always taken or broken. You will be sent to the other properties they own if all the sunbeds are taken and when I did that there weren't enough of them there either. The beach is also not very attractive at this location. The front desk staff are probably the rudest and most unhelpful I have ever encountered. They were confrontational on just about every subject (even on finalizing the bill, which really surprised me). They can barely speak English. While the location is bad if you want to get a good sleep, it is in the centre of everything and close to some good bars and restaurants. The rooms are generally pretty clean and look nice from the outside. The breakfast is also very good and included in the room price. The internet service is double the price of internet cafes nearby and the staff will discourage you from using it because they say it is too slow. The laundry service is ridiculously expensive. They charge per item when other places nearby are charging 40 Baht or less per kilogram. I would definitely not stay there again. Move to the north or south of Chaweng or to Lamai if you want a peaceful vacation with a better view and nicer staff.
