Growing Pains

I would possibly recommend staying in this hotel based on my stay from Monday 8/8/2011 to Friday 8/12/2011. I stayed in room 3115. The location was great being right in center of all the action in Chaweng beach. The resort had nice and vibrant decorations and at night time there was a Mongolian BBQ restaurant open out front as well as a bar with a live rock band. Most of the rooms were garden view rooms, there didn't seem to be a lot of ocean view rooms or they were in short supply. The service was good and flexible. They did a lot of small things to welcome us like having tasty local candy in the room on arrival and other frills. However I had issues with my room. The wireless internet only worked in the lobby and only sometimes (not that I needed to be on the internet in Koh Samui). The hotel room itself had some problems: the tub wouldn't drain and required a 1 hour repair by staff and the air conditioning leaked requiring repair. It seemed like they were in the process of renovating when I was there, with lots of rooms under development. The pool was nice and there were adequate facilities like an open-air bar by the pool, outdoor shower to rinse off salt water, massage tables, pool table, tour planner, etc. They had a good breakfast buffet too though it was pricey. If you need to find an ATM, make a right when you get leave the resort. It is a minute away but it has Samui banker's hours, not convenient. All in all, a good resort which could be a lot better when they have a chance to shake out all the problems. A bit on the pricey side. There is a good and economic restaurant nearby which I recommend called Ninja Crepes. Leaving Baan Samui Resort, make a left and walk 5 minutes or so down the main street. The place is an open air restaurant on the other side of the street. That usually has people in it at any given time.
