Surprisingly good hotel in Udon Thani

The hotel must have been first class when new. It has a few blemishes with age (eg.some cigarette burns in carpets) but generally exhibits superior quality. The service was very good. The hotel is right beside the city's major shopping complex and is almost opposite the bus station. I would strongly recommend it. One surprise, though, was that there were no tour brochures in the lobby - assuming there are places near Udon of interest to visitors. Udon itself is very close to the Laotian border, and is a very convenient location to travel across the mekong river by bus.
